The management of the General Hospital Ikorodu (GHI), has taken the campaign for breastfeeding to market and other public places to drive home its importance.
The campaign is part of the activities commemorating the 2026 World Breastfeeding Week which is usually celebrated annually in August.
GHI management, in a statement, said that the initiative is to reach large number of residents.

”As part of our World Breastfeeding Week 2026 activities, our team took the campaign straight to the heart of the community with an outreach at the bustling Allison Market in Ikorodu.
”Our team visited the market to sensitize residents and market women on the vital importance of exclusive breastfeeding. Under this year’s theme, “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works,” we shared essential tips on infant nutrition, maternal wellness, and the lifelong health benefits that breast milk provides”.
While emphasizing that the hospital is committed to providing quality health services, the GHI management also lauded responses of members of Ikorodu community during the outreach.

”The energy was incredible as market women and community members welcomed our team, engaged in interactive health discussions, and asked practical questions about child health.
”Bringing quality healthcare and life-saving information directly to the grassroots is at the core of what we do”, the statement added.
